KCR’s Temple Sketch to Beat AP?

Lately, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has shifted his focus towards temples in the region. Besides visiting them, Mr KCR has directed collectors and officials to gather details of all the temples in their respective regions in order to chalk out a special development plan for temples. Be it Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple on Yadagirigutta in Nalgonda or Rajarajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam at Vemulawada of Karimnagar or Mallikarjuna Swamy temple at Komuravelli in Warangal, KCR is of the opinion that the temples in Telangana have been so far “neglected” in the united Andhra Pradesh and were not “developed” on par with the temples in the truncated Andhra Pradesh.
KCR has already announced that he would develop Yadagirigutta on par with Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams. He had also asked officials to celebrate upcoming Sivaratri (Feb 17, 2015) in a grand way in Vemulawada as promised by him before elections. Soon after his visit to Komuravelli Mallikarjuna Swamy temple, KCR instructed the Warangal district Collector to identify vacant land around Komuravelli and allot the same to the Mallikarjuna Swamy temple for development activities.
Collector in his report stated that a total of 166 acres of land, “plain and hillocks” were available in the village. He told the KCR that another five-acre land close to the Rajiv Rahadari would also be made available for the temple. This is not all. KCR is not just focusing on Hindu temples. He even recently visited Gurudwar temple on the eve of Guru Nanak Birth Anniversary sporting a turban. KCR had assured to build the biggest Gurudwara temple in South India and even offered government holiday on Guru Nanak’s birthday.
He granted Rs 1 Crore towards the temple construction. KCR is leaving no stone unturned to develop the temples and temple towns in a big way in order to turn them into pilgrims and thus garner visitors and improve tourism for the state. Besides temples, KCR also wants to develop Hyderabad as a recreation centre with amusement parks. He has already initiated to construct sky-scrapers around Hussain Sagar lake. No doubt, KCR is eyeing to beat his neighbouring and motherly state of AP in tourism.
