Major Boost to AP’s Power

In what is considered major boost to AP’s power sector, Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFCL) has come forward to lend Rs 1,112 Crore to improve AP’s energy infrastructure. Out of Rs 1,112 Crore, Rs 1000 Crore will go to the discoms. The AP Southern Power Distribution Company Limited will get Rs 600 crore while AP Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited will get Rs 400 crore. PFCL will lend another Rs 112 crore for the supply of 4,000 solar pumpsets to farmers in the successor state. 
This is not all. PFCL has vowed to fund government school toilets in the state for which it will spend Rs 123 Crore. This will be as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities under the Swachh Bharat programme. PFCL and AP Government have entered into MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) in this regard. As part of this, PFCL would build toilets in government schools in all districts excluding Visakhapatnam.
It’ll shell out Rs 123 Crore to build 7200 toilets in 12 districts of AP under CSR. Welcoming the move, CM Chandrababu Naidu has confirmed all sort of help from government side. He announced Rs 1000 per month for the maintenance of primary school and Rs 2500 per month for the maintenance of higher secondary schools for maintenance of the toilets.
