Google naming a Telugu font after NTR and Naidu’s forthcoming session on ‘Google + Hangout’ on the 20th of this month are timed too close for comfort. It wouldn’t be surprising if this turns out to be a quid pro quo arrangement. NTR gets commemorated once again and Naidu once again refurbishes his tech-savvy image by interacting through Google!
What does Google get out of it? What do they stand to lose from it? All they have to do is name a Telugu font after NTR. Big deal! In return, they get to host the CM of Andhra Pradesh on their platform ‘Google+’. Google+ is a re-invented avatar of ‘Orkut’ which did well initially but had to close down shop in the face of competition from ‘Facebook’, ‘Twitter’ and ‘LinkedIn’.
Google is desperately trying to make Google+ a success and generate traffic by having celebrities and politicians interact on ‘Hangout’. To date, the idea is still struggling and Naidu’s show is unlikely to turn things around overnight. In the sessions, Mr Naidu is supposed to answer questions posted on Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus pages with the hashtags #AskAPCM and #AskCBN.
The deadline for posting the question was December 16 and only 80 questions have been asked from across the State with none related to IT. Naidu can happily wind up his session early and probably even find the time to catch a movie on you tube.
