A doctor cracked a bomb joke and found to his shock that it cost a bomb punching hole to his pocket. The incident happened when 60 year old Manuel Alvarado, said he was carrying C-4 explosives just before he boarded an Avianca flight on Oct 22nd to Bogota to a security officer’s routine question about his luggage.
Venezuealan doctor at once corrected that he was just joking but already airport authorities acted swiftly. Brian Bieber his lawyer said his client was extremely remorseful. The airport authorities already called in police bomb squad and were forced to partially evacuate half of the Miami International airport. He was slapped around $90000 fine.
Alvaro agreed to pay the fine and according to the deal prosecutors agreed to drop charges of false bomb threat and criminal mischief. Attorney added that the surgeon could return home. US officials increased penalties for bomb threats severe after 9/11 attacks.
