In a move to compete with Andhra Pradesh and other neighbouring states, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is planning to restructure Hyderabad on global standards. KCR is contemplating to build skycrapers around Hussain Sagar and already directed authorities to come up with the details of government’s lands available in and around the Sagar. The plan is to build skycrapers which will have beautiful and picturesque scenery/view of the Sagar lake.
We hear that this plan would emulate world-popular Singpore’s Petronas Twin Towers. As part of the plan, government wants to build the towers and later give them on lease or entrusting the construction to private developers on Public Private Patership. The government would even relax building norms to facilitate the skyscrapers. The space in towers would be used for various corporate offices, key government departments and for business establishments on lease. This is not all. KCR has said that Hussain Sagar is the gift of Hyderabad and hence he said he wants to clean the Sagar lake with immediate effect and wants to make it a fresh water lake which can be used for the purpose of drinking, household.
Apart from planning to build Twin towers around Hussain Sagar, Telangana government is also considering other portions of the city to build similar skyscrapers. KCR asked officials about lands near Sanjeevayya Park, Secunderabad Boats Club land and the vacant land adjacent to Jalavihar and asked them to submit a report on it. KCR is of the opinion that skyscrapers would be key component of “growth” like Naidu’s “HITEC City”.
