In a shocking reality to which ruling TRS party and Telangana Government is turning a blind eye, school going children are turning farm labourers. With no solution to acute power crisis in Telangana and drought starting at them, more than 350 farmers ended their lives by committing suicides. This left many young school going children turn labourers to earn livelihood to run their families.
A class seven student and his sister started picking cotton working on the field after their father committed suicide drinking pesticide. Situation is same in all villages in Medak district and it is same everywhere in Telangana. Many are turning labourers not due to oppressive landlords but due to their family situation and extreme poverty. Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said Govt ordered survey and is getting reports from collectors to take stock of the ground situation.
