The ruling Telugu Desam Party has decided not to field its candidate in upcoming Allagadda by-election. TDP has taken this conscious decision to stay out of the race as a mark of respect to late MLA Shobha Nagi Reddy who passed away in a tragic road accident. Although several local leaders in Kurnool wanted party to contest the election and announce the candidate, the high command decided not to be in fray in the election.
Earlier when YS Rajasekhar Reddy was chief minister, Congress has fielded its candidate Sriramulu opposite Paritala Sunitha although Paritala Ravindra was brutally murdered in broad day light. Sunitha then rode the sympathy wave to the victory and trounced her rival with a big majority. Notwithstanding this, TDP is now not fielding its candidate against the Bhuma Akhila Priya, the daughter of Shobha Nagi Reddy and Bhuma Nagi Reddy.
Both Bhuma Nagi Reddy and Shobha Nagi Reddy were ex TDP leaders and once belong to the TDP family. Hence, TDP wanted to stay out of the race. Nara Lokesh, scion of Chandra Babu Naidu, apparently decided not to contest this election. Deputy CM KE Krishnamurthy, who hails from Kurnool, formally announced TDP’s official decision on Monday. This is certainly a welcome change by TDP.
