With MAA elections around the corner, there has been a war of words going on between all parties involved. Every party is claiming that they have genuine interests and that they are the best option for a body mired in controversies and manipulation of funds.
Well, Rajendra Prasad who is one of the candidates says that he was a man who would directly go to the temple after shooting and one day he felt that he must do something more for the artistes and approached the industry biggies for advise. Though they advised him to contest for the post in the past, he could not do it then reveals Rajendra Prasad.
He further added all that the president of Movie Artistes’ Association needed was a commitment to help the poor artistes and a strong focus on safeguarding the interests of movie artistes. To do the job, one did not require any medals or other qualifications, he said. Rajendra Prasad also pointed out that in a career spanning over a decade and half, he got to act in 225 films and got the opportunity to work with some of the big names in the Telugu film industry.
Not many in the industry could surpass his seniority he further added. Talking about the big fight, Rajendra Prasad said that he found himself in a similar situation to Arjuna who was in a dilemma during the Mahabharat war to fight his own people. But his was a ‘dharma yuddham’ he said and also hinted indirectly at Murali Mohan saying that no matter how much one earned through real estate, they will not take it to the grave with them.
The senior artiste wondered if there was anything wrong with his intention of getting into the fray to serve artistes in need was wrong. In fact, the association does not have a permanent building till now and that is truly sad, said Rajendra Prasad. Finally, he concluded that the audiences look up to artistes as gods and the artistes must reciprocate their warmth whenever they get an opportunity.
