The historic Nizam College was chosen as the venue for the occasion. Arrangements are afoot to make some other big leaders also join the TRS on the occasion.
The three MPs who gave ultimatum to the Congress High Command to decide on Telangana by May end, were hurt that they were ignored. The Congress stand was clear when the PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana said those who want to leave the Congress could very well do so. Botsa said those who have no faith in Congress policies could leave. He made it clear that the party would not beg them to stay back.
It is learnt that the three MPs also felt insulted by the Congress president Sonia Gandhi at the recent dinner thrown by the Prime Minister at Delhi, on the occasion of the UPA government completing 9 years in office. The MPs tried to speak to Sonia Gandhi on the occasion and impress upon her on the need to take a decision on the Telangana issue urgently. However, Sonia chose not to speak to them. This gave them a clear signal that the Congress would not bother to take a decision on the issue in the near future.
It may be recalled that the TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao recently called the four leaders for a luncheon meeting at his farm house. Formalities of their joining and the seats to be allotted to them were finalized at the meeting say sources. KCR reportedly gave them free hand to select suitable candidates for the Assembly segments under their Lok Sabha seats. He told them to pick up candidates with winning chances as per his plan of winning 100+ Assembly seats in the Telangana region.
The TRS chief KCR is confident of convincing some more Congress and TDP leaders to join his party by June 2 and make the Nizam College grounds meeting a big event before the elections.
