How Will It Be A Burden?

Modi

In a bid to fight the tag of ‘anti-farmer’ foisted on them by the opposition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a couple of farmer friendly measures.

One is to increase the compensation for crop failure by 50% and the other is that from now on, even 33% crop failure against the existing 50% crop failure would be sufficient to be eligible for compensation.

“Although it will cause a huge burden economically to the government, we put the farmers’ interests ahead of everything else,” said Narendra Modi.

What burden are you speaking of Mr. Modi? Once the land acquisition bill is passed, half these farmers would not have lands to till.

Where then would the issue of claiming compensation for crop failure, arise?
