A petition was filed in a Chennai court by a distributor asking that the release of Mani Ratnam’s latest movie, ‘Ok Kanmani’ be stalled.
Dil Raju is releasing the movie in Telugu as ‘Ok Bangaram’ and there are quite a lot of expectations from the movie as Mani Ratnam has directed a love story after a long time and he is pretty good at this genre.
The distributor who filed the case had earlier brought the rights to Mani’s earlier film ‘Kadal’ at a huge price. The movie was a disaster and all the buyers suffered huge losses.
“Our lives changed after Kadal and we have been destroyed financially by that movie. Unless Mani Ratnam makes up for our loss, any movie of his should not be allowed to release,” said the distributor.
Movie making is a business and carries huge risks. So, it is doubtful whether this distributor can win this case.
