After the critically acclaimed ‘Mithunam’, Tanikella Bharani had penned a script on Bhakta Kanappa, a famous devotee of Lord Shiva. Actor Sunil was finalized to play the lead role. But for unknown reasons, the project did not take off with Sunil backing out of the project.
However, Bharani, himself a devotee of Lord Shiva is confident of the movie materializing. At a recent event Bharani said, “Bhakta Kanappa is too great a story to be left untold to the modern generation. The project has not been shelved. God willing it will materialize soon.”
As a technician, Bharani has already proved himself with Mithunam which was Tollywood’s entry for the Oscars.
Bhakta Kanappa would also make good commercial sense given that there has always been a market in Telugu for devotional films. Let’s hope Bharani’s dream comes true soon.
