Bengaluru: JD(S) has been crying hoarse about shortage of funds for its new party office in Bengaluru.
Ex-PM Deve Gowda has set up a ‘Hundi’ (collection box) on a patch of land where the party would be constructing its new office.
But the cry of poverty hasn’t convinced many of the party donors since it was followed by the announcement that Gowda’s son HD Kumaraswamy would launch his son Nikhil in the costliest ever film to be produced in the state.
Costliest Film
Kumaraswamy, who was a film producer before his political stint, is now launching his son Nikhil Kumaraswamy in one of the costliest films to be made in the South.
Puri Jagannadh, one of the most successful directors of the Telugu cinema, who has directed Hindi film Bbuddah… Hoga Terra Baap, has apparently been approached to direct Nikhil’s debut film, which will be produced on a budget of over Rs 50 crore, in Kannada.
The film is also expected to be simultaneously made in Telugu.
Though Puri has met Nikhil several times to discuss the plans, he has not confirmed whether he will direct the film or not.
Not many know that Kumaraswamy was a film producer, exhibitor and distributor before venturing into politics.
