Yes, it is a confirmed hit. Mani Ratnam finally has a commercial hit in a long, long time. After years of bad run at the box office, Mani’s film made on his own banner Madras Talkies has minted money for him.
In fact, Guru was the last film that was a commercial success for Mani and now he has bagged a hit both as a director and producer with Ok Kanamni.
The Tamil version of Ok Kanmani has made Rs 32 crores in 10 days and all credit goes to Mani Ratnam.
The film made Rs 22 crores in India and another Rs 10 crores overseas. Well, Mani risked it all to make a film without any scintillating star cast and that paid off big time for him.
Going by the money invested for the film, the film is already raking in profits and the above mentioned figure is for the Tamil version alone.
The film has also been dubbed into Telugu and the film has been having a decent run due to positive talk and the collections have been good too.
So with Ok Kanmani, Mani Ratnam has actually revived his career once again.
