If mom doesn’t grant a wish, get it approved by dad, and then mom will grant something more. This is the trick which children follow at home to get what they want. The analogy may look different, but more or less this is what happening now in AP and Telangana, unmindful of any future consequences in terms of finances.
The CM of Telangana, KCR has been doing his best when it comes to playing the ‘rich state’ card and has been doling out wishes one after the other. The big strain on exchequer started when employees had demanded a 43 percent fitment and KCR had granted them and as a prestige issue, even Naidu fulfilled their wish. This again is a heavy burden for AP.
Now with RTC employees demanding the same after dillydallying their wishes have also been granted. Sensing that KCR is getting ready to accept their demands, Naidu advanced his announcement to afternoon.Hence, in the evening when KCR announced this, he gave one percent more. Now rather than welfare and long—term assessment, everything has become an issue of KCR-Naidu rivalry.
Tomorrow just like RTC many other corporations may ask for the same and there is no doubt that employees welfare is important but if they take advantages of Naidu-KCR rivalry and keep demanding one after the other, then things may reach an ugly end. Hence it is all the more important that the two CM’s quickly sense this game and put an end to such practices.
