Despite the presence of super stars such as Mahesh Babu, Venkatesh and Samantha and seasoned actors like Prakash Raj and Jayasudha, it was Anjali who walked away with all the credit in ‘Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’.
The movie made her a household name across Andhra and she followed it up with the successful ‘Balupu’ although ‘Masala’ disappointed. But caught up in personal controversies, her career took a nosedive and she was soon out of the top league.
The success of ‘Geetanjali’ unfortunately did not help her and in fact she has been dropped from the sequel of that movie. She recently signed a Kannada film.
Normally, when offers are hard to come by, heroines go to Sandalwood and everyone thought it was the same with Anjali. But she has surprised one and all by bagging two big films, one in Telugu and the other in Tamil.
In Telugu, she has been signed opposite Balakrishna whereas in Tamil she will be seen opposite Mamooty. Incidentally, Mamooty, the Malayalam star is doing a straight Tamil film after a long time. This shows that Anjali’s career is still alive and kicking.
