Prakasam district is second strongest hold to YSRCP after Nellore in Coastal Andhra. YSRCP won 6 MLAs and Ongole MP in 2014 general elections. TDP MLC nominee Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy filed nomination yesterday with huge rally. TDP has declared Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy instead of Senior Leader Karanam Balaram for MLC from Local bodies’ category. In reality, YSRCP has dominated over TDP in local bodies.
YSRCP is 60 votes ahead of TDP in the district. It’s interesting that no one from YSRCP is ready to contest as MLC from the district. Prakasam leaders discussed with Jagan on possibility fielding candidate. Jagan relays much on Balineni Srinivas Reddy, but later is not willing to contest as MLC. As per buzz, Jagan got irritation over the leaders for not contesting in the elections.
Magunta candidature and Chirala MLA Amanchi entry into TDP lost the hopes for YSRCP to win. Leaders have analyzed what will be the political repercussions if YRSCP contest and not contest in this election. There are three separate reports (Balineni, Sajjala and Sakshi) reached to Jagan on predicting YSRCP defeat in MLC election. Chechu Garatayya is the only leader to come forward in contesting for MLC from the party. Party will decide on Saturday to finalize the candidate.
