During Telangana movement, supporters of Telangana and those who started fighting for the state branded seemandhra people as settlers. At that time all political leaders of Telangana and even various organisations made many insulting comments on andhra people calling them names and branding them as robbers who encroached their lands and robbed their jobs.
When questioned politicians and others changed tune saying their fight is against only Andhra politicians and not against people who made Hyderabad and Telangana their home. However things did not change as even after the formation of Telangana, parties started coining the insulting settlers word forgetting the fact no where in the country and in no other state the word settler is used against anyone.
The political parties in Telangana are ignoring the fact that Indians can live anywhere and in any state and they don’t need any permission from political parties and governments. Though people from other states are residing in Telangana, political parties started discriminating against seemandhra people calling them as settlers.
Now with GHMC elections fast approaching all parties started using the word settlers and try to make them as brand ambassadors and vote bank of Telangana.Though many people asked parties not to use settlers, parties are not heeding to them and some to derive political benefits formed settlers unions.
