The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) might be facing a tough contest during the assembly bypolls and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, with reports that Popular Tollywood actor Power Star and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan would contest from Sanathnagar.
Sources say that Jana Sena would also field few candidates in the GHMC elections. This would reportedly be a win-win situation for the TDP and BJP alliance in case Pawan actually fights from Sanathnagar. This assembly constituency is currently being represented by Telangana minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who incidentally on a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) ticket.
Talasani later switched to the TRS and he is expected to be TRS candidate as and when the by-poll is held. TDP-BJP feel that Pawan had played a role for TDP emerging victorious from this seat of Sanathnagar in the 2014 polls which was considered as a bastion of Congress prominent leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy for many decades.
Pawan also reportedly conducted a survey before the 2014 elections to check which would be the best and safest seat for him. Sanathnagar reportedly came up on top, followed by the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency. Sources say that his potshots at Talasani recently is an indication of sorts!
