Whenever you purchase second hand goods online from next time, beware! The city based thieves have given up the traditional selling off of stolen goods in shady Hyderabadi black markets and are now resorting to hi-tech ways by putting up the stolen stuff on several popular e-commerce sites to sell them off to unsuspecting buyers.

Recently, a person named Mahendar from Srinagar Colony lodged a police complaint at the Saifabad PS stating that his 15000 worth Panasonic smartphone was stolen from his pocket. The police, based on the mobile’s IMEI number, traced  the mobile to a person who reportedly purchased the mobile on a popular website that connects the buyers and sellers of second hand goods. The cops are now trying to trace the thieves who sold the mobile phone.

Many such cases have been found out in the recent past in which several stolen laptops, tablets, iPhones etc were put up on the websites for sale. Earlier, thieves used to sell off the stolen items in black markets like Chor Bazaar in Ameerpet, Hong Kong Market in Secunderabad, Jagadish Market in Abids and Jumeraat Bazaar in Old City.
