Soon after the death news of Dr Abdul Kalam is out, a photo allegedly final photo of Abdul Kalam has gone viral online. However, this is not the final photo of 83-year-old Abdul Kalam who collapsed on Monday while delivering a speech at IIM Shillong on ‘Livable Planet Earth’.
It’s a file photo which was apparently taken when Dr Kalam slipped during an award function of Sangeet Natak Academy, eight years back. Kalam was 75-year-old then and he was tripped by a walking stick being used by then 87-yr-old N Khelchandra Singh, eminent Manipuri scholar, who received honour just minutes before Kalam slipped. The incident shown how social media is instant and anything that goes viral without checking facts.
Meanwhile, Abdul Kalam’s mortal remains flown to his hometown Rameswaram. The funeral will be held on Thursday with full military honours. His body was wrapped in tri-colour.
