Mantra-2 Review
Story:
Mantra (Charmi) is an orphan who becomes a software Engineer and comes to Hyderabad to join a company. As she has no one there, a driver (Uttej) introduces her to a old couple (Tanikella Bharani and Delhi Rajeshwari) to be with them as their paying guest. All of sudden, there were some murder attempts on her and takes the help of her college friend, Vijay (Chetan) who is a Police officer. The investigation led to shocking truth that she is living in a haunted house. What happens next in the story forms the rest.
Performances:
Charmi once again had put up a good performance. She is particularly good with her expressions. She is also at sensuous best on one of the songs. Chetan Cheetu is good as a sincere cop. Rahul Dev is good as a baddie. Tanikella Bharani, Delhi Rajeshwari, Uttej and others are good in their roles.
Technical Performances:
SV Sateesh, the director of the film had failed in all fronts. The story is not that great while screenplay and direction are also not up to the mark. The climax is a total let off. A horror thriller is effective only when there are some good scenes with chilling effects but Mantra-2 is totally devoid of any thing.
Sunil Kashyap’s music is okay and re-recording is average. The back ground score could not elevate the output. Penchala Babu’s camera work is good. Editing should have been a lot better in the second half. Production values are just average.
Plus Points:
- Charmi’s expressions
- Interval block
Minus Points
- Slow Second half
- Weak Story
- Poor Screenplay and direction
- No suspense and Horror
- Ineffective Climax
Final Say:
Mantra-2 is a damp squid. The debut director failed the successful Mantra franchise with his poor handling. His treatment to the film and handling of the cast and crew is totally ineffective. Mantra-2 totally let down the expectations of the audience. Give it a miss!
