A 52 years old man named Lakshmiah hailing from Vedayapalem of Nellore Town has committed suicide seeking special status for Andhra Pradesh. Lakshmaiah, who is a handicapped, hanged himself. He was survived by a wife and two children. Lakshmiah used to work as a contract labour in housing board society. He is work less now.
Police found a suicide note at Lakshmaiah’s house that clarifies that he was upset with Centers delay in taking decision over special status to the state. The note reads: “Jai Prathyeka Hoda, Jai Jai Prathyeka Hoda. Andhra Pradesh certainly needs special status. AP needs to be developed. Unemployment issue should also be resolved. This is my dying declaration.” Police are investigating the case, whether there are any other reasons for his death or he did it for special status.
Earlier, congress leader Muni Koti committed suicide by immolating self on August 7th in demand for accordance of special status to AP. Political parties and public organizations called for bandh on 10th. Now, Lakshmaih committed suicide demanding special status.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu yesterday called Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other representatives to discuss about AP special status, packages and other issues. Centre should take immediate decision on special status in order to stop the suicides in AP.
