Sold for just 55 lakhs to its overseas distributor, director Maruthi’s latest youthful flick Bhale Bhale Magadivoy did sensational business in entire North America. The film opened in 110 screens in the US and Canada, a highest ever for Nani our Maruthi. Now, the film has grossed more than $1 million, a rare feat only a few directors could manage until now.
So far, only top Tollywood directors like Rajamouli, Sreenu Vaitla, Trivikram and Koratala Siva managed to enter the much discussed million dollar club, and Maruthi joins this elite panel. While Rajamouli entered the million dollars club with Baahubali with nearly $7 million, Trivikram achieved that feat with S/O Satyamurthy. Sreenu Vaitla has 2 million dollar films with Dookudu and Aagadu and finally, Koratala Siva managed the feat with Srimanthudu, which is nearing the $3 million mark.
Bhale Bhale Magadivoy is also the first medium budget film from Tollywood which entered the $1million club. The film also gave a resounding brand to Maruthi now, who successfully erased the ‘boothu director’ stamp on him. The film still looks to collect big in this week, with no big releases and Teja’s Hora Hori failing to create a bang at the box-office.
