Both Kamal Haasan and Rajamouli are passionate film makers put heart and soul in making cinema. While Rajamouli is considered as South India’s biggest director, no one has ever experimented with subjects and genres like Kaml did. As said by Rajamouli at an interview, he didn’t earn anything until the release of Maryada Ramanna. Post Baahubali release, he has become most paid director in South.
On the flip side, Kamal spent all hard earned money on his dream project Viswaroopam. Fortunately, the spy thriller was a cracker at BO, minted huge money in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and in overseas.
Coincidentally, Rajamouli and Kamal are presently working on sequels of their respective giant ventures- Baahubali and Viswaroopam. While Baahubali 2 is in pre production mode, Viswaroopam 2 is in post production mode. Apparently, Kamal is doing opposite to Rajamouli.
Rajamouli completed Baahubali part 1 in 3 years and is planning to wrap up second part in 4 months time. In opposite, it took less than a year for Kamal to complete Viswaroopam and he is spending years on its sequel. Heavy budget and extensive CG work is main reason for the delay.
Common factor between Baahubali 2 and Viswaroopam 2 is both are expected to be far bigger than the prequels.
