In a huge disappointing news for extreme lovers of porn, a new study at the Case Western Reserve University revealed that the very idea of porn addiction can have serious effects on a porn addict’s mental health. “While some say porn is a healthy form of sexual expression, others believe it is an evil that leads to unrealistic expectations and addiction,” revealed the researchers.
The researchers found out shocking trends like depression, anger, anxiety and other psychological issues are rampant among the people who believed they are addicted to pornography. However, this mental disorder is not a consequence of watching porn, but due to the feeling that watching porn was becoming an irresistible routine.
This further aggregates the person’s mindset as he develops an adverse interpretation of his self behaviour like ‘I have no power over this’, which then leads to severe psychological distress, guilt and some even worry about what will happen if they watch too much of porn. Public shame, a troubled marriage, low performance at work can be some of the consequences of this psychological distress.
