US President Obama personally apologized to ‘Doctors Without Borders’ for American military mistakenly attacking a hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan that took the lives of 12 doctors and 10 patients.
After his conversation with the head of ‘Doctors Without Borders’, Obama then called Afghan President Ashraf Ghani to express his condolences for the Aghan innocent civilians loss of life during the airstrike and offered his thoughts and prayers for the victims on behalf of the American people.
On the call Obama and Ghani reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the partnership between the United States and Afghanistan and to continuing their dialogue about ways to deepen diplomatic, economic and security cooperation to promote a more stable and secure Afghanistan.
The US military has said that the airstrike came at the request of Afghan allies who asked for assistance after coming under fire.The US is participating in investigations conducted by NATO and in conjunction with the Afghan government.
