Have you Given it up yet? It’s the LPG subsidy #GiveItUp we are talking about here. If you haven’t then Dharmendra Pradhan minister for Petroleum and gas has something in store for you. He has put forth a proposal to the government to cancel the LPG subsidy for the well-to-do.
According to his proposal that’s yet to be reviewed by the Financial ministry, Person or family earning above a set limit would no more be eligible for the subsidy. What was till now a Voluntary program would turn into legality if the proposal gets approved by the finance ministry.
Give it up is very well advertised through every medium of communication including social media which in return did earn good results. As many as 40 lakh consumers gave up their subsidies voluntarily yielding in 25 lakh new connections to the needy. So let’s wait and watch what happens to the wealthy households that haven’t given it up yet? Would the government enforce a strict rule and cancel the subsidy? Its the finance ministry that has to take the call.
