New Delhi: The Press Information Bureau — the government’s nodal agency for communicating with media — was left red faced recently after a morphed photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi it tweeted had the social media in splits. Within an hour, the tweet was deleted.
Besides banning use of any morphed or photo-shopped picture of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s events after the recent fiasco during an aerial tour of Tamil Nadu, the government has also decided to track responses on social media for half-an-hour after any tweet is made on the PIB handle.
The person uploading the tweets has been tasked to inform seniors at PIB immediately about a crisis situation or negative feedback on social media about the tweets, for prompt corrective action.
