Loafer Movie Review

Story:

Murali (Posani) is a cheater who marries a rich girl (Revathi) eyeing her property. Later she comes to know about his intentions and refused to bring her share for her family. They fight with each other and Murali runs away to Jodhpur with his one year old son, Raja (Varun Tej). He raises Krishna as a Loafer.

Later Raja falls in love with Parijaatham/Mouni (Disha Patani) who escapes from her home as she does not like her arranged marriage proposal with Rich mining baron (Ali). Later this love leads Raja to his kother and some problems. What is the connection? How Raja manages to come out of the mess? is the rest.

Performances:

Varun Tej had come up with an improved performance in this film. His first tryst with mass genre, worked out well as Puri made full use of Varun – the actor. His performance in Suvi Suvvalamma song is very commendable. Disha Patani is good but the script do not offer much for her to perform.

Posani is good as a greedy and wicked father. Revathi is an excellent choice for the mother’s role. Mukesh Rishi gets a tailor made role. Rest of the actors like Ali, Brahmanandham, Sapthagiri are good.

Technical Performances:

The story line chosen by Puri Jagannadh is routine but still good but he faltered in giving a good screenplay especially for the second half. Puri had come up with some hard hitting dialogues. The first half is entertaining but second half is let off due to a bad screenplay. Direction work is also a mixed bag.

Sunil Kashyap come up with an average album. Suvi Suvvalamma is a show stealer. PG Vinda came up with good camera work, especially Jodhpur locales are shown well. SR Sekkhar, Puri’s regular editor disappointed this time, there are several needless portions that are left in the film. Art work is good and fights are impressive. Production Values are appropriate.

Plus Points:

  • Varun Tej as Raja (Mass Character Good)
  • Posani Krishnamurali and Revathi
  • Suvvi Suvvalamma Song

Minus Points:

  • Routine Story
  • Pathetic Second Half

Final Say:

Loafer has a mixed result for Varun Tej. He will impress the audience with his improved performance. But the movie as a whole is disappointing. As the second half in particular, is very routine, predictable and boring. It will be a okay fare if you go for it with out any expectations.
