If the reports from the power corridors in Andhra Pradesh government are to be believed, Telugu Desam Party president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is likely to sack his Officer-on-Special Duty Abheeshta from the post in a day or two.
According to sources, Abheeshta has not been coming to office for the last few days after Naidu had pulled him up for his overaction during the Amaravati foundation stone laying function. Apparently, Naidu has not been happy with the official’s style of functioning.
Abheeshta is the close friend of Naidu’s son and TDP politburo member Nara Lokesh Naidu. In fact, he was appointed as the OSD to the Chief Minister only on the recommendation of Lokesh. When Naidu was in Opposition, Abheeshta was appointed as the Chief Executive Office of Studio-N television channel which was taken over by Lokesh from Jr NTR family.
However, of late, Naidu has been receiving a number of complaints from the party leaders against Abheeshta as the latter has emerged as an extra-constitutional authority. There were allegations that he was ill-treating officials and keeping a tap on the activities of the senior TDP leaders.
Recently, Abheeshta is learnt to have conducted a survey on the functioning of Naidu’s cabinet colleagues at the behest of Lokesh and gave a negative report against several senior ministers. Aggrieved at this, these ministers lodged a complaint with Naidu against Abheeshta and that was the last nail on his coffin, say sources.
