Strange it may sound, but Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has personally enquired into the recent claims of Tollywood hero Nandamuri Balakrishna that he was doing social service for poor through his cancer hospital located in Banjara Hills. Only recently, Balakrishna went to CM’s camp office in Begumet to meet KCR and sought regularisation of his illegal buildings in Basava Tarakam Cancer Hospital, for which Balakrishna is the chairman, on the ground that the hospital was doing social service by providing affordable cancer treatment to poor.
KCR had promised to consider his request. Surprisingly, KCR, while going in his convoy to his old residence in Nandi Nagar in Banjara Hills, which is located near cancer hospital, stopped his convoy at hospital and spoke to few patients and their attendants standing in front of the hospital and asked them about the facilities being provided by hospital to them. He asked some patients and attendants to come to his residence and left. Soon, some 10-12 patients and their attendants went to KCR’s residence, who had a talk with them for about 15 minutes.
KCR asked them about the facilities in hospital and how much they are charging for treatment. Though patients did not complain about charging excess money, they told KCR that the facilities were poor and there were no night shelters for attendants to stay there who accompany patients. KCR promised them that he would soon ensure night shelters and other facilities for them in cancer hospital premises. It now seems KCR would not give approval to regularise illegal buildings in hospital premises till all the facilities are provided to patients and their attendants by Balayya.
