The massive outbreak of Zika virus has taken an unexpected impact on Tata motors new car, forcing it to change name atlast. Tata Motors new hatch back car was named Zica earlier and now with the wide spread of Zika virus, they are in an obligation to change the name of car finally.
Its a common perception that nobody really wants to buy a car with a negative sound or meaning, so its obvious that a car with deadly virus name will take the beating for sure. The virus has not entered India yet, but Tata is not willing to go ahead with the name, the sources say.
Its naturally tough to re-brand everything after its planned to get a launch for auto-expo in this month 2016. While the marketing communication including, Tv, print, radio and branding in social media went out in the name Zica, everything needs to be changed including the logo and badge of car name.
There is also a rumor that Tata has already started measures to give up the name ‘Zica’ for new name ‘Mint’. The Tata has also signed soccer star Lionel Messi for this hatchback branding for a whopping deal worth around 14 crores. Its not an easy task to re-brand the ‘about-to-get-launched’ car now and its way too costly affair.
