CM Garu Isn’t Enough? Should We say CM Sir?

Legislators do not seem to have respect for systems and positions these days. They tend to lose all decency and decorum when they get emotional in their speeches even during the debate in august Assembly. And people are also used to witnessing such kind of behaviour from the MLAs in the Assembly.

Generally, when an MLA refers to the Chief Minister, he would say: “CM garu” or “Gaurava Mukhyamantri garu,” or if he wants to call him by name: “Chandrababu Naidu garu.”

And when they refer to the Leader of the Opposition, they say: “Gaurava Pratipaksha Nayakudu” or “Jaganmohan Reddy garu..” etc. But we often see leaders from both the sides forgetting these respectful tags and calling each other by names.

Sometimes, we also come across leaders abusing the rival MLA as “rowdy,” “kovekkinodu,” “donga..” etc.

So, it was rather surprising to see Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu demanding respect from Leader of the Opposition Jaganmohan Reddy.

He lamented that Jagan referred to him in singular number and doesn’t even respect the position of a Chief Minister.

At the same time, Naidu has also conveniently forgot the fact that many a time, he calls Jagan with singular number, shouts him down by threatening to skin him and even referred to him as a “rowdy.”

Jagan denied that he disrespected the Chief Minister. “I call him Mukhyamantri garu or Chandrababu Naidu garu. Is it not enough? What more should I say? Should I call him CM sir? He thinks he is a monarch ruling a kingdom. That will not do here,” he said.
