The death toll in the tragic flyover collapse in North Kolkata has raised to 24. While the incident shook the residents of the surrounding areas, it also left people across the country in utter grief. Rescue operations are still underway and officials say that there will be no chances of survivors under the debris.
The shocking tragedy got everyone point their fingers at the Hyderabad-based IVRCL, the company which is constructing the flyover. However, in a press meet in Hyderabad today, the officials of IVRCL startled everyone saying that their company is not to be blamed for the mishap and described it as an “act of god”.
Expressing his shock, the IVRCL official said that the company used the same material for the rest of the 59 pillars of the under-construction flyover and that only 45% of work was left. “One girder missed and the second one fell. It is nothing but God’s act. This has never happened before; we are also in shock,” the IVRCL official said.
