Even as YSR Congress party MLA R K Roja is knocking the doors of Supreme Court to get justice in her suspension from the Assembly case, the Andhra Pradesh Assembly’s Privileges Committe on Saturday served a notice on her asking to appear before it for inquiry on April 6.
Obviously, the privileges committee wants to send a message to the Supreme Court that it is ready to cancel the suspension, if Roja tenders an apology for her misbehaviour in the Assembly and for her alleged unparliamentary comment on TDP MLA Anitha.
The Supreme Court admitted Roja’s appeal and the hearing is scheduled for Monday. If the court goes by the Assembly’s arguments, it might as well dismiss Roja’s petition.
However, the firebrand MLA is not willing to yield to the government. She had not attended the earlier meetings of the privileges committee on health grounds. Now that she has enough time, it remains to be seen whether she attends the same.
If she tenders apology before the panel, she will then lose the case in the Supreme Court. If she does not attend, too, the Supreme Court may take a serious note of it and may direct her to say sorry.
