Calling spade a spade, yesteryear actress Annapurna said that young heroes are interested in ‘glamourous’ and good-looking mothers and says that could possibly be the reason behind the reduce in roles to her. “When they play young on screen, naturally they’d prefer young and glamourous mothers. People like me would suit for granny roles. Even for granny roles, they’d want someone who’re seen in TV commercials,” says Annapurna in a candid interview to a news channel.
However, Annapurna doesn’t blame anyone but says, “It’s the trend in the society. Cinema follows the society. These days mothers are quite modern and glamourous. So audience expect the same from films as well.” She also says one can’t put onus on the stars completely as 50% is in the hands of the directors.
Annapurna adds that she’d like to act with all new-generation stars as it’d give her opportunity to learn new things in acting. Yet, she doesn’t regret. She says she’s pretty happy with what she has achieved as she shared screen space with almost all the legendary actors in the Telugu Cinema.
