Quite often, Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu laments that his state has become very poor after bifurcation and the Centre has not been coming forward to offset the revenue loss.Whenever he goes to Delhi, he presents tons of papers to the Centre with a lot of statistics to convince the Centre that the bifurcation of the erstwhile AP has rendered the state very poor.
But, Modi has not been responding to Naidu’s requests. Apparently, he strongly believes that the statistics Naidu provides are not very true; for the simple reason that the official websites of the AP government show different statistics on its key performance indicators. While the TDP leaders do not understand Naidu’s statistics, local BJP leaders do not bother to understand the contradictory figures because they do not have patience to do any research.
However, net-savvy youth have proved Naidu’s hoax. A netizen has pointed out how Naidu has been fooling people and also the Centre with his funny statistics. For example, let us see the statistics on paddy production, as per the government website. In 2014-15, there was a production of 81.24 lakh tonnes of paddy grown in 23.88 lakh hectares in AP; which means, the average production of paddy was 3.4 tonnes per hectare. In 2015-16, the production was 108.76 lakh tonnes grown in 21.43 lakh hectares.
It means the paddy production has increased by 27.50 lakh tonnes, though there was a fall in cultivated area by 2.45 lakh hectares. And the average paddy production was 5.07 tonnes per hectare, which is a world record! And this is despite the fact that the average rainfall was down by 60 per cent this year!So is the case with other key performance indicators, which are nothing but exaggerated figures. Now, tell me; can Modi believe Naidu?
