It looks like senior Telugu Desam Party leader Nandamuri Harikrishna has distanced himself from the party completely. He conveniently avoided attending the Mahanadu being held at Tirupati on the pretext that he was to pay homage to his father N T Rama Rao at NTR Memorial in Hyderabad.
“For me, paying tributes to my father is more important than Mahanadu. I don’t have a bigger reason for skipping the party programme,” Harikrishna said.He also took a dig at TDP leadership, particularly Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu indirectly, saying those who had promised to give and those who promised to bring special category status to Andhra Pradesh had gone silent.
“There should be a movement for achieving special status to AP and at least one person from every family should join this movement and bring pressure on the Centre and the State,” he said.On the other hand, his brother and Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna called for restraint in achieving special status to AP.“We have to continue our efforts to prevail upon the Centre to get special status to the state, without adopting confrontationist attitude,” he said.
