During Telangana moment,many opposed to bifurcation saying AP will turn poorer and Telangana turn richer. After the bifurcation many thought Andhra Pradesh willnot be heard in news.However Andhra Pradesh sprang surprise by ranking second while Telangana ranked 13th in Union Government’s ranking according to business friendly initiatives taken. But all that was a year back. Now in a shocker with in a year everything changed so much so that Telangana came second and Andhra Pradesh slipped 17 places standing at 19th in the recent findings of the Union Government.
Telangana with business friendly initiatives surged ahead but sourcecs say states have time till June 15 to improve their position as final rankings will be given with the help of World Bank in the month of July. States and union territories were asked to upload the status of completed reforms by June 15. After that the DIPP and World Bank will come out with the final rankings.Commerce and Industry ministry is evaluating states on real time basis on 340 parameters compared to 91 last year. Bihar stood first place at present. DIPP revealed “Results may change frequently during this process. Final results will be available once the process is complete,”
Till now 16 states provide details and Bihar given information on 29 reforms. Though other states too submitted 200 plus reforms,Bihar’s reforms have been verified. Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka have secured third, fourth and fifth ranks respectively. Gujarat was ranked first on the ease of doing business index prepared by the World Bank last year but at present it is at sixth position.
