Andhra Pradesh CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu is buoyed by the deals he signed with several Chinese companies to the tune of nearly 55,000 crores during his just concluded China trip. However, the CM had to feel the disappointment in his home turf.
Babu flew down to New Delhi directly from China and met with the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely regarding the centre’s promise to allot funds for Amaravati construction. But, Arun Jaitely reportedly told Babu that the Modi government can only afford to give 2,500 crores. This left Chandrababu disappointed and speaking to the media in Vijayawada, the CM said that so far the centre has given 1,500 crores for the capital construction and that Arun Jaitely has told him that the centre can only give another 1,000 crores more.
Babu said that he can’t even lay high-tension underground electric cables in the capital area with the funds sanctioned by the centre. A deeply dejected Babu said that he will pressurise the centre in all the ways possible and convince it in understanding the financial plight of the state. Babu further expressed confidence that AP and its people will build the capital on its own.
