This headline may be confusing and more so after conclusion of the 2016 Olympics held in Rio, Brazil. But according to the reports, Indian wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt’s bronze medal from the 2012 London Olympics may be upgraded to silver as the then silver medallist late Besik Kudukhov reportedly failed in a dope test.
The latest reports stated that Besik Kudukhov, a 2-time Olympic medallist and 4-time world champion, has been found guilty for using a banned substance in a dope test conducted by the World Anti-Doping Agency. Besik had died in a car crash in Russia in 2013.
With this, Yogeshwar Dutt, who had won the bronze medal in men’s 60kg freestyle category in the 2012 summer Olympics, may now be upgraded to a silver medal. However, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the United World Wrestling (UWW) are yet to make an official statement.
