Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s favourite programme – Janmabhoomi, which had generated a lot of support from all sections of people during his first stint between 1995 and 2004, has failed to evoke any response from both the people as well as the party cadre.

This time, Naidu has changed its name to “Janmabhoomi-Maa Vooru” (My motherland, my village) to make the party leades and cadre involve in the developmental activities of their respective villages. But, the programme held from January 2 to 11, hardly saw any participation from the MLAs, ministers and the local party leaders.

Perhaps, only Naidu took the programme seriously and nobody else. There were hardly any gatherings at the grama sabhas, as the representations received by the officials and leaders last time were not attended to. There were no takers for the political speeches at the grama sabhas, as they were meant to attack the opposition parties.

As a result, the feedback obtained from the meetings indicated that the people are not happy with the government and instead of giving political mileage to the TDP, the programme turned out to be counterproductive.
