AP CM and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu is in a tight spot as there’s a stiff competition among the leaders of the party for MLC seats in the upcoming MLC elections. As MLC elections are going to be held in AP for 21 seats, several senior leaders are vying up to bag the opportunity. While two seats would be nominated directly, the competition is for the remaining 19 seats – of which 5 are for teachers, graduates, 9 for local bodies and 5 from MLAs quota.
It’s learnt that around 50 people are in fray for the 19 seats. Big names like Karanam Balaram, Angara Rammohan, one among Anam brothers, Adala Prabhakar Reddy, Ambika Krishna and many noted leaders are in the race.
Chandrababu Naidu is expected to take a decision on the final list of candidates today after attending the politburo meeting of the party.
It’s buzzed that the disappointed candidates may even shift their loyalties to Opposition YSR Congress party. However, it has to be seen how TDP is going to restrict the defections and pacify the dissatisfied candidates. The big question is can Chandrababu satisfy all?
Meanwhile, MLC elections for teachers’ constituency and graduates’ constituencies in AP will be held on March 9. Elections will be held for 3 graduates’ constituencies and 2 teachers’ constituencies as the tenure of the incumbents ends on March 29. The Election Commission has already issued the schedule.
