Noted Bollywood filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt filed a police case after he received an extortion call from a mystery man, who demanded a sum of Rs 50 lakhs. He also threatened to kill his actress-daughter Alia Bhatt and wife Soni Razdan, if he didn’t pay the money.
Fearing for the safety of his family, Bhatt reportedly filed a complaint on Wednesday. The filmmaker took to Twitter on Thursday and confirmed that police of Maharashtra police and Uttar Pradesh worked jointly and nabbed the extortionist, who was found to be a 24-year-old youth from Uttar Pradesh.
Although Bhatt assumed the first call as prank, he got alert after a series of messages was sent to his WhatsApp number. He later thanked the police for their swift act in arresting the caller.
On work front, Mahesh Bhatt has stopped directing films but he continues to produce them. On the other hand, Alia has become one of the busiest and promising actresses in Bollywood.
