Kittu Unnadu Jagratha Movie Review
Kittu Unnadu Jagratha is a comedy caper that sticks to the cliches of the genre. Vamsi Krishna, who made a decent debut with Dongata, has once again chosen to do a movie in the same genre. KUJ is routine but it did offer some laughs despite the clumsy second half.
Story :
Kittu (Raj Tarun) and his friends (Praveen, Sudarshan) make a living out of kidnapping dogs. There is a reason for car mechanic Kittu to take up this profession. He owes a lot to a hardcore criminal and is forced to kidnap dogs in order to save his head. His love story with Janaki (Anu) is interlinked with all this mess. How does Kittu clear his debt and get back to his girl forms rest of the story.
Performances:
Raj Tarun is at ease in a role that suits him. His natural performance makes Kittu a loveable character. Anu is gorgeous and her glamour is an asset to the film. Arbaaz Khan is okay as the main villain. Prudhvi steals the show with his impeccable comedy timing as Rechukka. Raghu Babu gets a meaty role and he did fine. Praveen and Sudarshan lend support to Raj Tarun as his friends. Nagababu, Raja Ravindra are alright in their respective roles.
Technicalities:
Vamsi Krishna surely has command over the genre as it is evident in the screenplay. He did a fine job in interlinking many threads into the main plot, but should have taken care about the second half, which is too messy. Music by Anup Rubens is very ordinary. He failed to come up with catchy tunes and also couldn’t give a decent background score. Dialogues are good in parts. Cinematography is okay. Editing is good in first half, but gets messy in the latter half. Production values are fair. Producer made sure to have good star cast.

Analysis:
Kittu Unnadu Jagratha begins on a good note with a very amusing setup. Protagonist kidnapping dogs is an amusing idea that is executed well. Heroine turns out to be the reason for hero to take up this job and that is told in an entertaining way. First half of the film breezes off with not much to complain about.
Director is in command of things until the intermission point and from then on the film loses steam and goes off track. Kittu kidnapping the dog and heroine getting kidnapped by the villain at the same time makes it a very interesting interval block, but later on director couldn’t surprise with any such elements.
Second half of the film is pretty weak as it seems like the director is waiting for the climax scene. Care should have been taken care on this part, which really couldn’t rise above the average mark. Prudhvi’s comedy during the climax works and saves the movie up to some extent, but there are many concerns about the second half.
Barring the errors, Kittu Unnadu Jagratha offers some genuine fun moments. Prudhvi in particular is at his hilarious best and almost makes it a paisa vasool fare. It is a time pass film if you keep your expectations in check. However, there is a lot of scope for improvement especially in the messy second half.
Verdict: ‘Careless’ Second Half Spoils the Fun.
