‘Pelli Choopulu’, the small budget ‘Baahubali’ of Tollywood, which was ignored at all the local award functions, has been bestowed with two awards at the 64th National Film Awards that were announced today.
Except the Best Comedian Award for Priyadarshi at a recent award event, the critically acclaimed and commercially successful small budget wonder of 2016, couldn’t win a single award so far. Well, what else can we expect from the TFI award functions which are held only to make money rather than to honor the true talent and encourage good cinema.
Tharun Bhascker, the director of ‘Pelli Choopulu’ was so disappointed with the various Tollywood award functions that he wrote a lengthy post on facebook venting out his anger. Ignored locally, the talented debutante finally got his due recognition at national level. Besides his film winning the Best Telugu feature film award, he was also honored with the national award for Best Dialogues.
Aren’t these national film awards for Pelli Choopulu a slap on the face of TFI awards?
