DJ’s Bihar Remark Upsets Bollywood Critics

Somehow Bollywood is many times biased that South Indian films will not have much content and also they make fun of all the South Indians by togetherly calling them as Madrasis. Thanks to Baahubali, a film that shattered many think tanks and their opinions about South forever.

Recently released Allu Arjun starrer “DJ Duvvada Jagannadham” however has hurt some North India film critics who work in Bollywood. Especially the likes of Subhash.K.Jha pointed out the blind role of Censor Board in allowing few lines. In scenes before hero’s introduction, a young DJ actually kills a goon and goes to the police station. The station chief asks him, whether he’s a Bihari or from Chattisgarh. Upset with this line, some critics mentioned that Tollywood is stereotyping as if gangsters and criminal come from these states. And the found fault with Censor Board for allowing those lines.

To keep it simple, Censor Board and director Harish Shankar would not have thought such depth but on the flip side, it’s Bihar that is ridden with much crime than any state in the country. And the Bollywood critics who never opened mouth on Madrasi jokes and never criticised satires that make fun of dark skinned people down south are now worried that Bihar’s image is getting tarnished by DJ movie.

In reality, when films like Gangs of Wasseypur are true to their fictional extent, why DJ’s line about Bihar and Chattisgarh became a reality? Isn’t this also a fictional work?
