Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Das’ government is gearing up to launch a new scheme through which “Contraceptives and Condoms” will be distributed to newly wed couples with the ambition of controlling growing population in the state.
Named “Mission Parivar Vikas”, this UP govt. initiative will be launched on July 11, the World Population Day. As part of this scheme, a free kit equipped with contraceptives and condoms is gifted to the newly wed couples. The health workers will distribute these kits at the weddings and explain the importance of family planning to the couples. The kit will also carry brochures, guidelines and other important literature on the importance of safe sex, family planning and spacing out births.
As part of its family planning initiative, the government also has plans to place free condom boxes at health facility centres and gram panchayat bhawans.
Uttar Pradesh contributes the most to India’s swiftly growing population, having one of the highest Total Fertility Rates.
