Its WhatsApp vs Paytm?

WhatsApp, the world’s leading Messenger app and Paytm, India’s leading digital payments firm are reportedly planning to lock horns by entering into each other’s den.

Already there have been reports about WhatsApp planning to start digital payment services in India, a segment where Paytm is the leader by a huge margin.

Digital payments in India surged after the demonetization late last year. Most firms, especially Paytm have since rapidly increased their market share in the E-payments arena. WhatsApp, being a giant brand, will surely impact Paytm’s market share if it enters the competition.

Now, latest reports suggest that Paytm plans to launch a messaging service to rival WhatsApp. Paytm plans to attract Indians to use the new messaging service embedded in its app, which is already being used by 225 million consumers to buy everything from recharges to plane tickets.

SoftBank and Alibaba-backed Paytm’s messaging service will allow users to send audio, video and pictures and texts, and it may be rolled out by the end of this month, thus posing a threat to WhatsApp’s domination in India.
